Both new product developments and product changes require effective change management &#8211; and a resource for checking labels that is available quickly and when needed. <br><br>The purpose of food labelling is to provide the consumer with adequate and correct information about the contents of the package. This is to protect the consumer and prevent misleading. The manufacturer is responsible for the accuracy of the labelling and it is checked by authorities, auditors and customers.  <br><br>The labelling must include mandatory information such as the quantity, ingredients, allergens and best before or expiry date of the product. The party responsible for the product must also be indicated so that the consumer can contact the manufacturer or producer in the event of a complaint. The nutritional content of most products must also be indicated in a clearly defined order. There are also specific provisions on the indication of origin or country of origin. If necessary for the safe use of the product, the instructions for use must also appear on the packaging, either verbally or in clear symbols.
